Stem Cells May Help Dog
In Logan, Utah, a procedure was recently performed on a Husky named Coty. The dog was having issues with mobility, and had tried other treatments, but nothing had really helped. This is where Dr. James Israelsen of the Mountain View Veterinary Health Clinic comes in. He offered Coty's owners a chance to try a new stem cell treatment. The stem cells come from the dog's own fat. Once the fat is harvested, it is sent to Vet-Stem for extraction, then sent back to the vet for injection into the dog. While there hasn't been a noticeable improvement yet, as it can take up to a month after the injection for full results, the treatment holds a lot of promise for other dogs like Coty. What an amazing advancement in the treatment of mobility issues in dogs! I look forward to tracking the story as it unfolds to see what other applications this treatment can be used for. And of course, to know if it did indeed help restore Coty's mobility. Full article could be found here :http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=148&sid=6084389
